Ingredients

1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, drained and pressed

2 tablespoons cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup maple syrup

2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)

1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust for spice levels)

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

2 green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

Prep the Tofu: Start by cutting the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes (about 1-inch). Place in a bowl and toss gently with cornstarch until evenly coated. This will create a crispy layer when cooked.

Cook the Tofu: Heat the vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the tofu cubes in a single layer. Cook for about 4-5 minutes until golden and crispy, then flip and cook the other side until similarly golden. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Glaze: In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the minced garlic. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

Combine Ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, soy sauce, sriracha, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Pour this mixture into the skillet with the garlic, stirring to combine.

Glaze the Tofu: Return the crispy tofu bites to the skillet and toss to coat evenly in the glaze. Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and the tofu is well-coated.

Serve: Remove from heat and transfer the glazed tofu bites to a serving platter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish. Serve hot, accompanied by rice or steamed vegetables.
