Ingredients

1 fully cooked bone-in ham (6-8 pounds)

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup honey

1/2 cup Dijon mustard

1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground ginger

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 cup water

Fresh herbs (such as rosemary or thyme) for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Ham: If your ham has a thick layer of fat, score the surface in a diamond pattern. This helps the glaze to penetrate the meat. Place the ham in the slow cooker, cut-side down.

Make the Glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and black pepper until smooth.

Coat the Ham: Pour the brown sugar mixture over the ham, making sure to cover it evenly. If there are any gaps, use a brush or spoon to spread the glaze all over.

Add Water: Pour the water into the bottom of the slow cooker to create steam during cooking, which helps keep the ham moist.

Cook: Cover the slow cooker with a lid and set it to low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours, depending on your schedule. The ham is ready when it is heated through and easily pulls apart with a fork.

Baste for Flavor: Every couple of hours, open the lid and baste the ham with the juices from the bottom of the slow cooker. This step is crucial for a flavorful and moist end product.

Serve: Once cooked, remove the ham from the slow cooker and let it rest for about 15 minutes. Slice and serve warm with a drizzle of the remaining glaze from the slow cooker. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Store Leftovers: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
