Quick Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry Bowl

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, freshly grated

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 tablespoons water

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

1 cup cooked jasmine rice (or rice of choice)

Instructions
 

Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced beef, soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients.

    Blanch the Broccoli: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and blanch them for about 2-3 minutes until they are bright green and slightly tender. Drain the broccoli and set it aside.

      Cook the Beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Sear for about 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside.

        Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Sauté the minced garlic and grated ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not burnt.

          Combine Ingredients: Return the beef to the skillet along with the blanched broccoli. Stir-fry everything together for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

            Adjust Sauce Consistency: In a small bowl, mix the water and red pepper flakes (if using), then pour it into the skillet. Cook for another minute until the sauce slightly thickens.
