Ingredients

500g ground beef

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 large onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece ginger, minced

2 medium tomatoes, chopped

1/2 cup frozen peas (optional)

1-2 green chilies, slit (adjust to taste)

1 tablespoon garam masala

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

1 teaspoon coriander powder

1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)

Salt to taste

Fresh cilantro, chopped for garnish

Juice of 1 lemon

2-3 boiled potatoes, cubed (optional)

Instructions

Heat Oil: In a large pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.

Sauté Onions: Add the chopped onions and cook until golden brown, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.

Add Aromatics: Stir in the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Incorporate Tomatoes: Add the chopped tomatoes and green chilies, stirring until the tomatoes soften and melt into the mixture.

Spice It Up: Mix in the coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the oil starts to separate from the masala.

Cook the Beef: Add the ground beef to the pan. Break it apart with a wooden spoon and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, ensuring it's well combined with the spices.

Add Peas and Potatoes: Stir in the frozen peas and cubed boiled potatoes (if using). Mix thoroughly and add a splash of water to keep it moist. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Final Touches: Stir in the garam masala and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Adjust seasoning as needed. Remove from heat.

Garnish: Finish with a sprinkle of fresh cilantro and a squeeze of lemon juice for brightness.

Serve: Serve hot with naan, rice, or roti alongside yogurt or raita!
