One-Pan Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry with Rice

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

4 cups broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece of ginger, grated

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 cup jasmine rice

2 cups beef broth

3 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon sugar

Salt and pepper, to taste

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish

Prepare the Rice: In a medium saucepan, combine jasmine rice and 2 cups of beef broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-18 minutes or until the rice is tender and all the liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it steam with the lid on.

    Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and sugar. Let it marinate for about 15 minutes while you prepare the vegetables.

      Sauté the Vegetables: In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Toss in the broccoli florets and bell pepper slices, stir-frying for 3-4 minutes or until tender-crisp. Remove the vegetables from the pan and set aside.

        Cook the Beef: In the same skillet, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Allow it to sear undisturbed for 2-3 minutes until browned. Stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until the beef is cooked through.

          Combine Everything: Return the sautéed vegetables to the pan with the beef. Toss everything together and let it cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

            Serve: Fluff the cooked jasmine rice with a fork and serve it on plates. Top the rice generously with the beef and broccoli stir-fry. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
