Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups fresh broccoli florets

1 medium onion, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

3 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1/4 cup beef broth (or water)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)

1 teaspoon sesame oil

Cooked rice or noodles for serving

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon oyster sauce, and 1 tablespoon cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for 15-20 minutes.

Blanch the Broccoli: While the beef is marinating, bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and blanch them for 2-3 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and beef broth. Set aside.

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and sear for about 2-3 minutes until browned. Flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes until cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil, and then add the sliced onion, minced garlic, and ginger. Sauté for about 2 minutes until fragrant.

Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked beef to the skillet along with the blanched broccoli. Pour the sauce over the mixture and stir well to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is saucy and well-coated.

Finishing Touches: Drizzle the sesame oil over the stir-fry and give it one last stir. Remove from heat.

Serve: Plate your beef and broccoli stir-fry over a bed of cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
