2 whole wheat pita breads

1 cup cooked chicken breast, shredded

1/2 cup marinara sauce

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Olive oil, for brushing

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

    Prepare the Chicken Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, marinara sauce, half of the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, oregano, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully combined.

      Cut the Pita Breads: Carefully slice each pita bread in half to create two rounds. Then, gently open each round to create a pocket.

        Stuff the Pitas: Spoon the chicken mixture into each pita pocket, being careful not to overfill. You want the filling to be heaped but manageable.

          Arrange on a Baking Sheet: Place the stuffed pitas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with a little olive oil for a golden finish.

            Add Cheese: Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top of each stuffed pita.

              Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the pitas are crispy.
