Ingredients

4 large round sourdough or artisan bread loaves

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

6 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried parsley

1 teaspoon dried oregano

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Salt, to taste

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup cooked and seasoned vegetables (spinach, bell peppers, or mushrooms work great)

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Bread Loaves: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Using a serrated knife, carefully cut the top off each bread loaf to create a “lid” and scoop out the insides, leaving about ½ inch of bread on the sides and bottom to form a bowl. Reserve the scooped-out bread for another use, like breadcrumbs or stuffing.

Make the Garlic Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, dried parsley, dried oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Coat the Bread Bowls: Spread the garlic butter mixture generously on the inside and outside of each bread bowl, ensuring that they are well coated for maximum flavor.

Bake the Bowls: Place the bread bowls on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the bread is lightly golden and crispy.

Fill the Bowls: While the bread bowls are baking, prepare your filling. In a bowl, mix shredded mozzarella cheese, cooked vegetables, and grated Parmesan cheese. Season with a pinch of salt and black pepper.

Assemble: Once the bread bowls are done baking, remove them from the oven. Carefully fill each garlic bread bowl with the cheese and vegetable mixture, pressing down gently to pack it in.

Final Bake: Return the filled garlic bread bowls to the oven and bake for an additional 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is bubbling and golden.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving. Enjoy your delicious garlic bread bowls warm!
