8 oz (225g) pasta of your choice (fettuccine or pappardelle works best)

1 cup fig jam

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tsp fresh thyme leaves (or 1/2 tsp dried thyme)

1/4 tsp black pepper

Salt to taste

2 tbsp olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup walnuts, toasted and chopped (optional)

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions
 

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and add the pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

    Prepare the Sauce: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and minced garlic. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

      Combine Ingredients: Add the fig jam and heavy cream to the skillet, stirring to combine. Allow the mixture to heat through for 2-3 minutes.

        Add Cheese and Seasoning: Mix in the grated Parmesan cheese, fresh thyme, black pepper, and salt. Stir until the cheese has melted and integrated into the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, gradually add reserved pasta water to achieve your desired consistency.
