Ingredients

3 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup warm milk (about 110°F/43°C)

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, plus more for brushing

1 tablespoon garlic powder

2 teaspoons dried Italian herbs (oregano, thyme, basil)

¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

Prep the Dough:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Stir until well mixed.

      Add Wet Ingredients:

Make a well in the center and pour in the warm milk and melted butter. Mix with a wooden spoon or a dough hook until a shaggy dough forms.

          Knead the Dough:

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook to do this step.

              First Rise:

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.

                  Shape the Rolls:

Once risen, punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, ensuring they are close but not touching.

                      Prepare Garlic Herb Topping:

In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, garlic powder, and dried herbs. Brush this mixture generously over the shaped rolls.

                          Second Rise:

Cover the dish with a kitchen towel and let the rolls rise for another 30-40 minutes, until they puff up nicely.

                              Preheat and Bake:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Once the rolls have risen, beat the egg in a small bowl and brush the tops of the rolls with the egg wash for a golden finish.

                                  Bake the Rolls:

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through.

                                      Garnish:

Remove rolls from the oven and immediately brush with more melted butter. Sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.

                                          Serve:

Enjoy warm, ideally with a drizzle of honey or on the side of your favorite soup or salad!
