Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon butter

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Gruyère cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Zest of 1 lemon

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Sauté the Garlic: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant but not browned.

Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet and season with salt, pepper, paprika, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the shrimp turns pink and opaque. Remove from heat.

Make the Cream Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, half of the Gruyère cheese, half of the Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Stir well and season with salt and pepper.

Combine Ingredients: Add the cooked shrimp to the cream mixture and stir everything together until well-coated.

Prepare the Gratin Top: In a separate bowl, mix the panko breadcrumbs with the remaining Gruyère and Parmesan cheese. Add a drizzle of olive oil (about 1 tablespoon) to help the crumbs brown nicely.

Assemble the Dish: Pour the shrimp and cream mixture into a greased baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the panko breadcrumb mixture over the top.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cream is bubbling.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Enjoy your Savory Garlic Shrimp Gratin with crusty bread or over a bed of fluffy rice!
