Ingredients

2 cups frozen edamame in pods

2 tablespoons sesame oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon soy sauce

2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (white or black)

¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Salt, to taste

Fresh cilantro or green onions, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Edamame: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the frozen edamame pods and cook for 4-5 minutes until tender. Drain and immediately transfer to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Once cooled, drain again and set aside.

Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the sesame oil, minced garlic, soy sauce, honey (or maple syrup), rice vinegar, sesame seeds, and red pepper flakes (if using). This sauce will add depth and flavor to the edamame.

Sauté the Edamame: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the drained edamame pods and sauté for 2-3 minutes, allowing them to get a bit crispy and heated through.

Add the Flavor: Pour the prepared sauce over the sautéed edamame. Stir well to coat the pods evenly and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and caramelizes onto the edamame.

Season and Serve: Taste for salt and adjust if needed. Remove from heat and transfer to a serving bowl. Garnish with fresh cilantro or chopped green onions, if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.
