Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

1 pound ground chicken

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (Italian seasoned for extra flavor)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp dried basil

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Sauce:

1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

To Serve:

Additional shredded mozzarella for topping

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Cooked spaghetti or your choice of pasta

Instructions

Make the Meatballs:

    - In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, shredded mozzarella, egg, minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the meatballs tough.

      Form the Meatballs:

        - Roll the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter. You should get around 18-20 meatballs. Place them on a baking sheet while you prepare the sauce.

          Prepare the Sauce:

            - In a separate bowl, mix the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes (if using). This will add a wonderful depth of flavor to your dish.

              Combine in the Crockpot:

                - Pour half of the marinara sauce into the bottom of the crockpot. Then, gently place the meatballs in a single layer over the sauce. Pour the remaining marinara sauce on top of the meatballs, ensuring they are generously coated.

                  Cook the Meatballs:

                    - Cover the crockpot with its lid and set it to cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours. The meatballs should be cooked through and tender when done.

                      Add More Cheese:

                        - About 15 minutes before serving, sprinkle additional shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the meatballs. Cover and let it melt into a gooey layer.

                          Serve:

                            - Once cooked, carefully lift the meatballs out with a slotted spoon. Serve over cooked spaghetti or your favorite pasta, and garnish with fresh basil leaves for a pop of color and freshness.

                              Enjoy:

                                - Enjoy your delicious and comforting Crockpot Chicken Parm Meatballs with a side salad or garlic bread!
