Crispy Pita Parmesan Chips

4 large whole wheat pitas

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

½ teaspoon salt

Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions
 

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

    Prepare Pitas: Carefully split each pita in half to create two rounds. You should have a total of 8 thin rounds.

      Season the Chips: In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, garlic powder, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Brush the mixture evenly over both sides of each pita round using a pastry brush.

        Add Cheese: Place the seasoned pita halves on the prepared baking sheets. Sprinkle a generous amount of grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top of each pita round.

          Bake: Bake the pita chips in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until they are crisp and golden brown. Keep a close eye on them to avoid burning!

            Cool and Garnish: Remove the baking sheets from the oven and let the chips cool for a few minutes. They will continue to harden as they cool.

              Serve: Transfer the crispy pita Parmesan chips to a serving platter. Garnish with chopped parsley for a pop of color, and serve with your favorite dips like hummus or tzatziki.
