Ingredients

12 oz (340 g) fettuccine or spaghetti

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 teaspoon salt (to taste)

1/4 teaspoon black pepper (to taste)

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a kick)

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Extra Parmesan for serving

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the fettuccine or spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain and set aside.

Sauté Garlic: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, stirring frequently to avoid burning.

Make the Sauce: Reduce the heat to low and pour in the heavy cream. Stir well to combine. Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, whisking continuously until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.

Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat the pasta evenly with the creamy sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add some of the reserved pasta water, a little at a time, until you reach the desired consistency.

Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with chopped parsley and extra Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately while hot.
