Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

1 cup diced ham (cooked)

1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or a mix of your favorite cheeses)

1/2 cup cream cheese (softened)

1 tbsp Dijon mustard

1 tbsp chopped fresh chives (optional)

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

Salt and pepper to taste

Flour for dusting

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut it into 4 equal squares (you can also make smaller squares for bite-sized pastries).

Make the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the diced ham, shredded cheese, softened cream cheese, Dijon mustard, chives (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Fill the Pastries: Place a spoonful of the ham and cheese mixture in the center of each puff pastry square. Be careful not to overfill to allow for proper sealing.

Seal the Pastries: Fold each square over to form a triangle or a rectangle, depending on your cut. Press the edges firmly to seal. You can crimp the edges with a fork for an extra touch, ensuring the filling stays inside.

Apply Egg Wash: Brush the tops of each pastry with the beaten egg to give them a beautiful golden color when baked.

Bake: Arrange the pastries on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until they are puffed and golden brown.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Serve warm as a delightful appetizer or a savory snack!
