Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1 cup beef broth (low sodium)

2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water (for thickening)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a cheese blend)

2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Beef: In a large bowl, season the sliced beef with salt and pepper. Let it sit while you prepare the other ingredients.

Cook the Broccoli: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they are bright green and start to become tender. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Beef: In the same skillet, add the beef, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked to your desired doneness.

Create the Sauce: Pour in the beef broth, soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 2 minutes.

Thicken the Sauce: Stir in the cornstarch and water mixture, allowing the sauce to thicken. This should take about 1-2 minutes.

Combine Ingredients: Return the broccoli to the skillet and mix gently to combine all ingredients.

Add the Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the stir-fry and cover the skillet for 1-2 minutes, allowing the cheese to melt.

Assemble the Bowls: Spoon cooked rice into serving bowls and top with the cheesy beef and broccoli mixture.

Garnish and Serve: Finish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions (if using) for added flavor and crunch. Serve immediately and enjoy!
