Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground beef

2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

1 cup long-grain white rice

2 cups beef broth

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon paprika

1 tablespoon olive oil

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent (about 3-4 minutes). Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Season the Beef: Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix well to integrate the spices, then remove from heat.

Prepare the Rice Layer: In a large mixing bowl, combine the uncooked rice with 2 cups of beef broth. Stir in the broccoli florets (if using fresh, chop them into small pieces). This will allow the rice to cook while absorbing the broth and steaming the broccoli.

Combine Ingredients: In a large casserole dish, layer the rice and broccoli mixture evenly. Add the cooked ground beef on top, spreading it evenly.

Add Cheeses: Sprinkle half of the cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the beef layer, then top with the remaining rice mixture to create a layered effect. Finally, spread the remaining cheese on top for that cheesy finish.

Bake the Casserole: Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil (to prevent drying out). Place it in the preheated oven and bake for 40 minutes.

Final Touch: After 40 minutes, remove the foil and sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top. Bake uncovered for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Serve and Enjoy: Let the casserole rest for about 5 minutes before serving. Scoop portions onto plates and enjoy this warm and cheesy comfort dish!
