Ingredients

For the Brownie Layer:

1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter

1 cup (200g) granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

For the Cheesecake Layer:

8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Instructions

Preparation: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8x8 inch (20x20 cm) baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easier removal.

Brownie Mixture: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar until well combined. Let it cool slightly before adding the eggs and vanilla extract. Mix well until smooth.

Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.

Cheesecake Filling: In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with sugar until smooth. Add in the egg, vanilla extract, and flour, mixing until creamy and well blended. Carefully spread the cheesecake mixture over the brownie layer in the baking pan.

Top Layer: Pour the remaining brownie batter on top of the cheesecake layer. Using a knife or a toothpick, gently swirl the two mixtures together for a marbled effect.

Baking: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter). Be cautious not to overbake to keep the cheesecake layer creamy.

Cooling: Remove the pan from the oven and let it cool at room temperature for about an hour. Then transfer to the fridge for at least 2 hours for better slicing.

Serving: Once chilled, cut into squares and enjoy your delicious cheesecake brownies! Optionally, top with some whipped cream or chocolate drizzle for an extra touch.
