2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons instant yeast

3/4 cup warm milk (about 110°F/45°C)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1/2 cup cooked bacon or sausage, crumbled

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/4 cup green onions, chopped

1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

1 egg (for egg wash)

Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Instructions
 

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast. Mix well. In a separate bowl, whisk together warm milk, melted butter, and one large egg. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.

    Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

      Prepare the Filling: While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. In a bowl, combine crumbled bacon or sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, and garlic powder (if using). Mix until well combined.

        Shape the Rolls: After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread the filling mixture evenly over the dough. Roll the dough tightly from one long end to the other to form a log.

          Cut into Rolls: Slice the rolled dough into 12 equal pieces. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cut side up, ensuring they are lightly touching each other.

            Second Rise: Cover the rolls with a damp cloth and let them rise again in a warm place for about 30 minutes, until slightly puffy.

              Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
