Ingredients

4 large flour tortillas

2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

2 medium apples, thinly sliced (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

1 tablespoon unsalted butter

1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

1 tablespoon honey (or maple syrup, optional)

Fresh parsley or cilantro for garnish (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Filling:

    - In a bowl, mix the thinly sliced apples with cinnamon (if using), a drizzle of honey or maple syrup, and a pinch of salt to enhance flavors.

      Melt the Butter:

        - In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the tablespoon of butter. Ensure it coats the bottom of the skillet evenly.

          Assemble the Quesadilla:

            - Place one tortilla in the skillet. On one half of the tortilla, sprinkle a generous amount of shredded sharp cheddar cheese.

              - Layer the cinnamon-spiced apple slices over the cheese, then top with another handful of cheddar cheese to help seal the quesadilla.

                Cook the Quesadilla:

                  - Fold the tortilla in half to cover the filling.

                    - Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until the bottom is golden and crispy. Carefully flip the quesadilla using a spatula and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden and the cheese is melted.

                      Repeat:

                        - Remove the cooked quesadilla from the skillet and place it on a cutting board. Keep it warm while you repeat the process with the remaining tortillas, butter, and filling.

                          Slice and Serve:

                            - Once all quesadillas are cooked, slice them into wedges. Optionally, garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro for a pop of color and flavor.

                              Enjoy:

                                - Serve warm and pair your Apple Cheddar Quesadilla with a side of apple slices or a simple mixed green salad.
