Ingredients

4 medium-sized apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and diced

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ cup brown sugar (divided)

1 cup rolled oats

½ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Apples:

In a mixing bowl, combine the diced apples with lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, and cinnamon. Toss until the apples are evenly coated. Allow them to sit for about 10 minutes to release some juices.

      Make the Crumble Topping:

In another bowl, mix together the rolled oats, flour, remaining brown sugar (including the additional two tablespoons), melted butter, nuts (if using), vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir until all the ingredients are well combined and crumbly.

          Assemble the Glasses:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In 4 glass jars or heatproof cups, layer the apple mixture evenly on the bottom. Top with the crumble mixture, dividing it equally among the jars.

              Bake:

Place the assembled jars on a baking sheet (to catch any overflow) and bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are bubbly and the crumble is golden brown.

                  Serve:

Remove the jars from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. Serve warm topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
