Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

1 bell pepper (red or yellow), thinly sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch fresh ginger, grated

3 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)

1 teaspoon sesame oil

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Salt and pepper (to taste)

2 cups cooked rice or quinoa (for serving)

Instructions

Prepare Marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Toss until the beef is evenly coated and let it marinate for 10 minutes.

Cook Rice/Quinoa: If you haven't already, prepare the rice or quinoa according to package instructions so it's ready when you need it.

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

Stir-Fry Beef: Add the marinated beef to the skillet in a single layer. Let it sear for about 2 minutes without stirring, then stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Toss in the broccoli and bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender yet still crisp.

Add Aromatics: Reduce the heat slightly and add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the vegetables. Stir-fry for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Combine & Finish: Return the cooked beef to the skillet. Drizzle with sesame oil and stir everything together until heated through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve: Spoon the beef and broccoli mixture over a bed of cooked rice or quinoa. Garnish with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds for added crunch.
