Ingredients

1 cup plain Greek yogurt

1 ½ cups self-rising flour (plus extra for dusting)

1 large egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Make the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt and self-rising flour. Stir until a shaggy dough forms. You may need to use your hands to fully incorporate the ingredients, ensuring that the flour is well mixed with the yogurt.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough gently for about 1-2 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Avoid over-kneading to keep the bagels light and airy.

Shape the Bagels: Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope about 8-10 inches long. Form a circle by joining the ends of each rope together, pinching to seal, which will create your bagels.

Prepare for Baking: Place the shaped bagels on the prepared baking sheet. In a small bowl, whisk the egg to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of the bagels with the egg wash for a golden finish.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 20-25 minutes or until the bagels are golden brown and firm to the touch.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove the bagels from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack for a few minutes. Serve warm, or store in an airtight container for later enjoyment.
